A concise, friendly guide to get you logged into Ledger® Live and ready to manage your crypto securely.
Ledger® Live is the desktop and mobile application that lets you access, send and receive crypto while using your Ledger hardware wallet. This guide covers the essentials: installation, login, basic navigation, and quick troubleshooting.
Make sure you have your Ledger hardware device (Ledger Nano S Plus, Ledger Nano X, etc.), your recovery phrase stored safely, and a modern computer or smartphone. Never share your recovery phrase with anyone.
Download Ledger® Live from the official Ledger website. Choose Desktop (Windows / macOS / Linux) or Mobile (iOS / Android) and follow the on-screen installer.
If you used Ledger® Live before on another machine, you can restore accounts by re-connecting your device and adding accounts from the Accounts tab.
When you initialize a new device, follow the device's screen to create a PIN and write down the recovery phrase. Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase via email, phone or chat.
Use Ledger® Live to install apps for specific blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) and to create accounts. Each coin may require installing its app on the Ledger device itself.
Try a different cable, USB port, or restart Ledger® Live. Ensure the device is unlocked (PIN entered) and the appropriate app is open on the device.
After three wrong PIN attempts your device will reset — you'll need your recovery phrase to restore. If you can't find the phrase, contact Ledger support for options (note: Ledger cannot recover your phrase for you).
Update Ledger® Live to the latest version, and update the firmware on your Ledger device when prompted by the app.
